Steve McDonald | Business Relationship Development

A Dallas native with over three decades of experience in the building products industry, Steve McDonald brings unmatched expertise, technical knowledge, and a deep passion for building science to his role at JR Insulation. Since 1994, Steve has worked across nearly every facet of the construction materials world from general management to business development with a specialty in energy efficiency and insulation solutions.

His professional journey began in the Pacific Northwest with a family-owned business, where he quickly rose to become the company’s highest paid general manager, breaking sales records and leading innovative growth. That success led him to Louisiana Pacific, where he was part of a pioneering team trained by top building science PhDs in insulation, HVAC, and energy systems an education that deeply shaped his analytical and detail-oriented approach to sales and project planning.

Over the years, Steve has partnered with some of the largest names in homebuilding building a reputation for integrity, thoroughness, and quality control. He later ventured into spray foam insulation through a role with Demilec, gaining firsthand knowledge of one of the industry’s fastest-growing technologies.

Steve first met JR Insulation founder Joaquin while working at a different company where Joaquin was a technician and Steve was in sales. The two have collaborated ever since, sharing a commitment to quality workmanship and customer service. At JR Insulation, Steve is known for producing meticulously detailed proposals, inspecting work on-site, and maintaining close communication with clients to ensure every project exceeds expectations.

Outside of work, Steve and his wife of 35 years, Gabrielle, live in Murphy, Texas. They have three grown children and two grandchildren, and enjoy gardening, exercising, and serving actively in their church. Steve sings in the choir, plays guitar, and is involved with the ACTS retreat ministry, which has been a meaningful part of his life and faith journey.
